Welcome to Shire Midwifery, where you receive personalised, woman-centred care throughout your pregnancy, birth and early parenting journey. Led by Tania Bucknell, an Endorsed Midwife, Child & Family Health Midwife and Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) with over 20 years’ experience, Shire Midwifery provides professional, evidence-based care tailored to your needs- in your home.
At Shire Midwifery, you’ll receive warm, evidence-based care that’s truly personal. I believe that every woman deserves to feel safe, supported and listened to- from the first appointment to those precious early days with baby.

- Antenatal appointments and education
- Homebirth and hospital birth support
- Postnatal and lactation care (in-home or virtual)
- Newborn checks, breastfeeding support and emotional care
All care is provided in line with current Australian midwifery standards and safety guidelines.

- Endorsement: As an Endorsed Midwife, Tania is qualified to prescribe certain medications relevent to pregnancy, birth & postnatal care and request relevent pathology and ultrasound investigations.
I became a midwife because I am passionate about supporting women to make their own choices. I believe that women know their bodies, they know what is best for themselves and only want the best for their baby. I will support you, encourage you, and be there should you have concerns.

Antenatal
Antenatal Care
- Completion of full medical, family, psycho-social history
- Assessment of Mum and Baby
- Antenatal education including labour and birth choices

Telehealth call Bulk-billed
Telehealth consults are available for eligible pregnancy and postnatal appointments. These are provided within Medicare guidelines and are bulk-billed where applicable for clients with a valid Medicare card. Some appointments, assessments or follow-ups may require an in-person visit for safe, comprehensive care.
